As someone who spent 16 years of his life in the league, and many of his retired years as an analyst, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley clearly loves the NBA. But on SiriusXM NBA Radio, the former MVP explained why he’s not so thrilled with the current state of the game.

“Basketball is awful to watch,” Barkley said. “I was excited when the season started. I was like, man, this is gonna be a great season. We’ve got about five or six teams in the West that are gonna be terrific. We’ve got about five or six teams in the East that’s gonna be really solid. And now I’m looking around and it’s like it’s the Spurs, and the Warriors, and nobody else. …You’ve got the Cavaliers who are just head and shoulders above every team in the East.”

Barkley also had some things to say about players entering the league at a very young age.

“The biggest problem we got in the NBA, we drafted these young kids and then the oldest guy on the team is 23, and he don’t know anything,” said Barkley. “Can you imagine how stupid we were at 18, 19 years old, going into the NBA making all this money? It’d be crazy.”
