The Los Angeles Chargers faced a gut-check last Sunday against the New York Giants.

One team would emerge from MetLife Stadium 0-5, and the Chargers had no intention of that being them after flying across the country.

‘Someone had to come had to come out of there with a W and we didn’t want to take that long flight back home 0-5’

“We knew we had to (respond),” running back Melvin Gordon told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “You’re put in a position where your back is against the wall. Someone had to come had to come out of there with a W and we didn’t want to take that long flight back home 0-5.

“So when guys are tired and guys are exhausted, you’ve got to fight, you’ve got to push through.”

‘The defense, they’ve got some athletic guys up front and their safeties are pretty chippy’

Gordon sees the Chargers having the same kind of fight when they take on the 2-3 Raiders Sunday at Oakland.

“They can hit you from all angles,” Gordon said. “(Quarterback Derek) Carr is what obviously gets that team going, but the defense, they’ve got some athletic guys up front and their safeties are pretty chippy. Obviously, the big problem on that defense is 52 (Khalil Mack), hands-down.”
