Alex Rodriguez might not even make the Yankees.

In fact, New York Post national baseball writer Ken Davidoff said on SiriusXM Bleacher Report Radio, that’s “the leading bet right now.”

“[The prevailing thought is] that he just physically can’t handle this, he’s had two surgically repaired hips, and that’s the last of him,” Davidoff said.

It’s far from a guarantee that Rodriguez’s Yankees (and, perhaps MLB) career will end in spring training, though.

“I think there’s also a decent chance he makes the team and plays designated hitter,” Davidoff said. “And really, I think he’s going to be on somewhat good behavior for now, so it’s just a matter of whether the Yankees let him go forward, or they’re going to keep punishing him.”
