Larry Flick will never forget the night he finally walked through the frosted glass doors of Studio 54.

At the age of 15 and after more than a year of trying, “Marc Benecke finally looked down upon me and said, ‘You’re in,'” Flick says of the era’s most sought-after doorman.

The Entertainment Weekly Radio and Studio 54 Radio host went from passing Benecke’s at the New York hot spot to passing him as a co-worker in the SiriusXM halls.

Now, Flick is honoring the famed nightclub’s 40th anniversary with Behind the Velvet Rope: Studio 54, an audio documentary chronicling 1970s stars’ exploits inside.

We’ve got interviews with the scene’s key players. Plus, SiriusXM partied the night away Studio 54-style with DJ sets and programming hosted by Flick and Marc & Myra.

Behind the Velvet Rope: Studio 54 premiered Wednesday at 3 pm ET on SiriusXM Entertainment Weekly Radio (Ch. 105). Hear the broadcast of SiriusXM Studio 54 Radio Celebrates: The 40th Anniversary of Studio 54 on Wednesday at 8 pm ET on Studio 54 Radio (Ch. 54) with replays Thursday at noon ET, Friday at 3 pm ET, Saturday at 10 am ET, Sunday at 5 pm ET, and Monday at 2 pm and 8 pm ET.
