Catholics from all over the world flooded into Rio de Janeiro last week for World Youth Day, the celebration of the Catholic faith that takes place in a different city every three years. Among them was Timothy Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of New York, who called into the Catholic Channel to describe the energy coursing through Rio leading up to Pope Francis’ arrival.

“You hear every language under the sun, you see the flags of all the nations, you see every skin color possible, and everybody is united as a child of God,” Dolan said.

Listen to Dolan’s update for more about the diverse crowds in Brazil and Francis’ message to the 3 million people at his closing Mass.
