Bobby Brown opens up about Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and the trauma of almost being molested

Bobby Brown isn’t holding back.

The R&B singer chronicles the ups and downs of his life in his new memoir, Every Little Step, and he was just as candid Wednesday on The Jenny McCarthy Show, discussing his tumultuous marriage with Whitney Houston, his fling with Janet Jackson, his battle with addiction and almost being molested by a priest while living in foster care as a child because his mother had been busted for dealing drugs.

“He tried to fondle me and touch me in the wrong places and got his a** whipped,” Brown said. “He brought me into a room and he just started trying to touch me, fondle me, and I just lost it and put my hands on him, in a different way.”

He overcame the trauma to become a superstar in the group New Edition before breaking out with a solo career.

Then, he began dating his “crush,” fellow singer Janet Jackson — though after their affair ended, he said he learned her father, Joe Jackson, “wouldn’t allow her to be with a black guy.”

“I had real feelings, I know that,” said Brown, 47. “She said she loved me but she wasn’t in love with me, and that kind of crushed me. That kind of hurt me.”

Of course, Brown’s most famous love was iconic singer Whitney Houston. They were married from 1992-2007 but both spiraled out of control with addiction. (Houston was found dead in her bathtub in 2012 with drugs in her system.)

Brown said he confronted Houston about her sexuality because of her closeness with her assistant Robin.

“I can imagine why,” he said of why she’d hide her alleged feelings for women from him. “Nobody accepted her to be that way. Nobody wanted her to be that way, and she didn’t think I’d accept her.”

Brown said he “truly loved her” but had to distance himself from their toxic relationship to get sober himself.

“She went to rehab trying to get clean, and she tried and tried and tried,” he said. “She fought hard to stay clean.”

The Jenny McCarthy Show airs live weekdays from 10 am to 12 pm ET on SiriusXM Stars (Ch. 109).
