Best for Last: Lupe Fiasco’s last interview and freestyle on Sway in the Morning

With beats like The Show Goes On, Superstar, and Kick, Push, Grammy Award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco is a hip-hop force to be reckoned with – and guess who tried to reckon with him? In Lupe’s last interview on Sway in the Morning, he spat nasty rhymes and nastier feelings towards Kid Cudi. The two artists got in a Twitter feud in August regarding Lupe’s offer to personalize verses for fans at $500 a pop (as long as they didn’t share or use the verse). Cudi (publicly) wondered where Lupe’s profit would go and told his fans Lupe was “swindling” them. Lupe, who had befriended Cudi since his career’s early beginnings, felt betrayed by the accusatory Tweet.

“I met Cudi when he worked at the Bape store in Soho, and he was a good dude. I loved his music. I just got a love for [him], and I know certain people when they get fame really quick, it’ll tear you apart … So we [were] cool,” Lupe said. “A year ago, I told my fans, ‘Yo, if you want a Lupe verse, I’ll write it to you for $500. You can’t put it on Twitter. But it’s yours.’… And Cudi went on Twitter and was like, ‘Yo, Lupe, whatcha going to do with that money?’… ‘I’m thinkin’ he jokin’!’ I’m like, ‘Bro, whatchu mean?’… And he stopped Tweeting at me so I couldn’t see what he was Tweeting, and I just caught wind of all these Cudi fans that were like ‘F-ck Lupe.’… [Cudi] like, ‘Yo, Lupe is tryin’ to swindle his fans. I would never do my fans like that.’… Don’t treat your friends like your enemies. ”
