Bedazzled Wham! merch, her Blabby baby doll, and other things Brooke Shields can’t live without

Brooke Shields is far more than the pretty face in that controversial Calvins ad from back in the day. She is a Princeton graduate, an actress of the stage and screen, a New York Times bestselling author, and a mother. Her most recent memoir, There Was a Little Girl, details her experience growing up with her late mother, Teri Shields, as her nurturing mentor and formidable manager. Shields’ modeling career began when she was only 11 months old, and though she is known as a picture-perfect glamour icon, she recently shared some of her quirks on Just Jenny. (And frankly, we’re more obsessed with her than we already were.)

Shields laughed over crushing hard on Wham! singer George Michael, who Shields dated before he publicly came to terms with his homosexuality. Apparently, Shields has always been a huge Wham! fan. We’re sure she’s blasting this jam during the holiday season.

“I was insane about Wham! My mother made me a Wham! bedazzled jean shirt … The things weighs a ton because it’s bedazzled within an inch of its life, and it’s got Wham! and George on it,” Shields said. “I finally get to meet him. And then his publicist was so sweet. They made a dinner planned for us. He got all the food I liked and talked about my clothes. I thought we really connected, to be honest! And then he didn’t kiss me good-bye at the door, and I was like, ‘Please don’t go-go!'”

Besides bedazzled Wham! merch, Shields also holds on to another childhood relic: Blabby, her baby doll. She told Jenny her mother once stopped a plane from taking off in order to find Shields’ precious pal.

“Blabby was like my little sister … I used to take her in the tub with me. She lost all her hair … She’s really scary looking. But she was my Blabby, and my mom would put her on the seat with me on the airplane, and she’d buckle the seat belt. And one day, she’s buckling me in. We were leaving Chicago or somewhere like that … and there’s no Blabby. And we’re on the runway,” Shields said. “And she goes, ‘Where’s Blabby?’ And I’m like ‘I don’t know. I left her at the Pac-Man machine or something like that.’ And she goes, ‘Don’t say a word. Just go along with me.’ … She pulls the stewardess over and says, ‘This is a matter of life and death. My daughter has been left in the airport.’… And they pull the plane around. They get us off. We get off the plane.”

Shields also told Jenny about getting her hair done on the morning her daughter Rowan was born – oh yeah, after her water broke.

“I said, ‘We are taking pictures of me in that silly little blue robe. And I want my hair to not look frizzy!'” Shields said. “And so my water breaks. I go to the appointment, and my doctor calls me and [says] ‘WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!’ And I say, ‘Just blow out the front! Just blow out the front!’ My husband is like ‘GET IN THE CAB. WE ARE TAKING YOU TO THE HOSPITAL!'”
