New Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price won’t move the fire-throwing Aroldis Chapman into the starting rotation, he told MLB Network Radio Monday from the 2013 Winter Meetings.

Price, who replaced Dusty Baker as the Reds’ manager after spending four years as Cincinnati’s pitching coach, said his preference for Chapman’s role with the club has changed since the end of last season.

“I’ll tell you honestly, at this time last year I was a huge proponent of Aroldis Chapman being in our starting rotation,” Price said. “That being said, we’ve gone another year down the road of closing, it’s something Aroldis really likes to do, he’s really good at it […] I think he’s fairly well cemented, and I also feel after another year of knowing him, that’s where his temperament is best suited.”

Price also explained where he felt Billy Hamilton fits on the roster – should he make the club – in 2014.
