22 Jump Street is ‘a dumber version of ‘Bad Boys,’ according to Channing Tatum + Jonah Hill

Airs Friday 6/13 at 7 pm ET on EW Radio, Ch. 105.

The stars of 22 Jump Street, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, recently sat down with the editor of Entertainment Weekly, Matt Bean, for a SiriusXM Town Hall, where they talked about doing their own stunts for the film.

Though we can only assume that doing stunt work for any film is hard work, Channing didn’t seem too stressed out about it. In fact, he put the whole thing in remarkable perspective, considering the “stunts” he used to pull as a kid.

“We used to do really dumb stuff growing up when we didn’t have any wires or safety people there, and now we just get to do it with safety people around,” said Channing. “But weirdly enough, you get hurt more with the safety people around, because everybody’s so nervous of everything happening. But we got to do a lot of cool stuff. I got to ride on top of a semi truck going about 80 miles per hour in a shipping yard. And that was a lot of fun.”

“We got to do a lot of dumb, over-the-top action stuff,” continued Channing. “I remember when we were filming on the first day, we were like, we get to do our version of ‘Bad Boys.’ Only more dumb. It’s a dumber ‘Bad Boys.'”

Listen to Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum describe their stunt work below, check out 22 Jump Street when it hits theaters Friday 6/13, and don’t miss the guys’ full Town Hall on the same day at 7 pm ET.
