SiriusXM is sad to report that Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell has passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 81.

Born in Pike County, Arkansas, Campbell moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and went on to become a seasoned session guitarist with artists ranging from Frank Sinatra to the Beach Boys.

He began recording under his own name in the mid-1960s and had an unparalleled string of crossover hits including the definitive versions of such Jimmy Webb classics such as By The Time I Get to Phoenix, Galveston and Wichita Lineman.

By the end of the decade, he was a network television star with the weekly Glen Campbell Good Time Hour and the 1970s brought more iconic hits like Southern Nights and Rhinestone Cowboy.

Campbell continued to record and perform, including a farewell tour following his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s in 2011, which was captured in the film I’ll Be Me that produced the Grammy-winning song I’m Not Going to Miss You.

SiriusXM remembers the legendary musician with musical tributes on Willie’s Roadhouse (Ch. 59),  60s on 6 (Ch. 6) and 70s on 7 (Ch. 7) and commentary on SiriusXM VOLUME (Ch. 106), among other channels.
