The 2015-2016 NBA season is almost here, and to get ready for all the action the new season will bring, SiriusXM NBA Radio is visiting the training camps of 11 teams, bringing fans updates, interviews and insights from some of the best in the game. Wednesday, NBA Radio visited with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are looking to improve on an NBA-worst 16-66 record last season.

Kevin Garnett is pumped up about the team’s young players.

“One of the beautiful parts of coming back here was the bones of this team, the potential of this team,” Garnett said. “[Karl-Anthony Towns] has the potential to be whatever he wants to be in this league. He’s that big man that you could throw the ball to and get a bucket from the post. Andrew Wiggins, another player. I feel like I’m watching a young Dominique [Wilkins,] a young [Michael] Jordan in their prime.”

Karl-Anthony Towns is learning a lot from Kevin Garnett.

“When you have a person like K.G. just on the court, it changes the whole vibe and the whole energy of the team,” said Towns. “For him to just be on the court and just see the love that he has for this game, and see how smart he is – we take little things and pieces from him every day that just make us even better players.”

Towns also explained why he and Andrew Wiggins bring out the best in each other.

Coach Sam Mitchell revealed Zach LaVine is the team’s starting shooting guard, and explained the importance of developing young talent over winning games.

“We’re going to give him an opportunity to start,” Mitchell said. “Obviously we hope lightning strikes and we surprise people and win some games. But at the end of the day, I’m gonna be judged on how good – this young talent that we have – how good it gets.”
