The 2015-2016 NBA season is almost here, and to get ready for all the action the new season will bring, SiriusXM NBA Radio is visiting the training camps of 11 teams, bringing fans updates, interviews and insights from some of the best in the game. Thursday, NBA Radio visited with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are looking to get back to the playoffs for the sixth straight year.

Marc Gasol spoke about what the team’s goals are for the upcoming season.

“When you’re trying to be elite, I think you gotta look at the top two, top three spots in the West,” said Gasol. “It’s not just about making the playoffs. You might pass a round if you don’t have home court. But to win it all not having home court, that’s really tough.”

Coach Dave Joerger said the team will play by their own style.

“We have to be who we are,” Joerger said. “This is how we’re made, and this is what we’re effective at. So to be really good at this and tight in our stuff, maybe in the first 20 games there’s going to be some teams that are still trying to find themselves and maybe we can get some wins that way.”

Team VP John Hollinger explained what he feels the team has to do to go further in the playoffs.

“To really compete for a championship and win a championship, I do feel like we need to be a top-two defense,” Hollinger said. “We were 29th in 3-pointers last year and we weren’t that far from 30th. So that’s an area where we hope to get better.”

Mike Conley, Jr. is honored to have young players compared to him.

“It means a lot because I’ve worked very hard to even get to this point,” Conley said. “It’s all just a testament to the work we’ve put in and it’s fun to see that people are starting to recognize it.”

Tony Allen want to be on the All-Defensive First Team every year.
