The 2015-2016 NBA season is almost here, and to get ready for all the action the new season will bring, SiriusXM NBA Radio is visiting the training camps of 11 teams, bringing fans updates, interviews and insights from some of the best in the game.

NBA Radio’s latest stop on the tour was with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are hoping to build off a 2014-15 season in which they finished with the top record in the East and advanced to the conference finals.

Al Horford is helping new players by telling them what they need to do to earn playing time.

“Defensively they need to understand our concepts, what we’re trying to do as a team,” Horford said. “Defensively, if you’re on the same page with everybody and you do your job, you’re gonna play.”

CEO Steve Koonin explained what is so compelling about the way the Hawks play.

“The integrity of our team, the selflessness, the sharing, the working together as one jumps to the top of every chart,” Koonin said. “We feel a lot like Atlanta. It’s a very hardworking town where people play hard and work hard, and I think we reflect the city quite well, and people are really, really buying into it.”

Kyle Korver doesn’t seeing losing in the conference finals last year as a failure, and spoke about how they’re working to go deeper in the playoffs.

“We weren’t expecting going into the season to win a championship; we were expecting to take a step in the right direction,” said Korver. “We have a bunch of new ideas and we see a lot of the places where we need to get better from last year.”

Coach Mike Budenholzer explained how the team’s offseason acquisitions can help the Hawks improve.
