Welcome to another segment of While You Were Sleeping. A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching Leicester City’s celebration unfold.

Congrats to the Foxes!

Opening as 5000-1 long shots to win the English Premiere League title, the Leicester City Foxes accomplished the improbable last night once Tottenham’s draw with Chelsea went final and claimed the trophy with a few games to spare. Our own Asher Kohn wrote about the Foxes unlikely title run back in March and his words still ring true today. A must-read for the soccer fan in all of us.

Thunderstruck

In an absolutely bizarre sequence to close the game, the Oklahoma City Thunder drew even with San Antonio following what should have been a clear offensive foul on Dion Waiters. Waiters, while trying to inbound a pass, clearly shoved/elbowed the Spurs’ Manu Ginobili. Instead of a whistle being blown, play continued and the clock eventually expired as San Antonio tried to get a basket following a scrum. Bizarre. It’s cold comfort for Spurs fans, but the league officials did acknowledge the blown call following the game.

In the East, the Cavaliers took Game 1 with a 104-93 win over the Hawks. Cleveland dominated for most of the game before blowing an 18-point second-half lead and falling behind with eight minutes left. But LeBron James made some clutch plays down the stretch to secure the win. James finished with 25 points while Kyrie irving added 21. Remember, you can catch all of the NBA Playoffs on NBA Radio.

Penguins survive 49 shots on goal to stake 2-1 series lead

Pittsburgh’s Matt Murray endured 49-shot barrage from the Washington Capitals, yielding only two goals to the Caps as Pittsburgh claimed a 3-2 win last night, giving them a 2-1 series lead. The series, in which every game has been decided by one goal, continues on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. Remember, you can catch all of the NHL Playoffs on SiriusXM Ch. 91.
