Robert Woods is ready for a change.

After spending the past four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, who haven’t made the playoffs in 17 years, the veteran wide receiver is excited about the prospect of ending that drought as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

‘Now it’s just get this offense, get these weapons going with the young quarterback’

As a bonus, Woods was able to join his hometown team in free agency.

“Being drafted into Buffalo, knowing that there was already a playoff drought, you’re definitely hungry and want to turn things around and get to the playoffs,” Woods told Alex Marvez and Kirk Morrison on Late Hits. “The focus now is all about this Rams (team), getting the Rams to the playoffs. We have a young quarterback in (Jared) Goff, a strong defense. So now it’s just get this offense, get these weapons going with the young quarterback and, same thing, get to the playoffs.

‘I want to touch it, I want to taste it and experience and great level of competition’

“It’s been four years. I want to touch it, I want to taste it and experience that great level of competition playing at that level.”

At 31, McVay is the youngest head ooach in NFL history. But after speaking with him for the first time, Woods came away convinced that the former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator is more than qualified for the job.

‘People bring up (McVay’s) age, but his knowledge is beyond his years’

“You just see his knowledge at a young age,” Woods said. “People bring up his age, but his knowledge is beyond his years. You know he has a great history in Washington. I was able to contact a few people on that. They had nothing but great things to say, whether it’s players, coaches, everyone speaking highly of McVay.

“Just seeing what he’s done and watching the passing offense and with the offense in general. You just see what he’s done and how he produces in the passing offense, which we’re trying to get going. We have a great back with (Todd) Gurley.”
