There won’t be any wicker picnic baskets or red plaid blankets on the ground for Willie Nelson’s 44th 4th of July Picnic — which will be broadcast live on the American music icon’s own SiriusXM channel, Willie’s Roadhouse (Ch. 59) – but there will be a lot of great music in the Texas heat.

Originating in 1973, Willie’s Picnic began as successor to 1972’s Dripping Springs Reunion in Dripping Springs, Texas, which in itself was a hippie Hill Country response to huge earth-shaking rock festivals like Woodstock and the Monterey Pop Festival.

Returning to the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) racetrack outside of Austin, TX for the fourth consecutive year, the 2018 Picnic boasts another star-studded lineup, headlined by Willie Nelson & Family, with sets from Sturgill Simpson, The Head and The Heart, Ryan Bingham, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, Margo Price, Jamestown Revival, The Wild Feathers, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Asleep at the Wheel, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy Joe Shaver, Johnny Bush and Gene Watson.

SiriusXM’s exclusive live broadcast will get underway at 3 pm ET, with backstage coverage from Willie’s Roadhouse and Outlaw Country hosts Dallas Wayne and Paula Nelson, and go well into July 5th, with Willie’s set scheduled at 11:30 pm local time.
