Independence Day has extra significance for Willie Nelson, who began hosting his annual Fourth of July Picnic festivals in 1973.

The tradition has been transformed this year, with both a virtual Fourth of July Picnic and celebration of his new album, First Rose of Spring, set to air over the holiday weekend on his exclusive SiriusXM channel, Willie’s Roadhouse (Ch. 59). The Album Release Special will also air over in Outlaw Country (Ch. 60). See the full broadcast schedule below.

Originally intended for an April release, First Rose of Spring will finally arrive on July 3 via Legacy Recordings, and SiriusXM subscribers will hear a one-hour virtual Town Hall broadcast, hosted by Willie’s daughter and SiriusXM DJ Paula Nelson with producer/songwriting partner Buddy Cannon, special guests Toby Keith and Randy Houser, and a lucky online audience that will get to ask Willie a few questions directly.

A Luck Production, Willie’s Fourth of July Picnic will be a star-studded 90 minutes of music and stories from Picnic regulars and newcomers, including Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, Steve Earle, Margo Price, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen, Kinky Friedman, Johnny Bush, John Doe, The McCrary Sisters, Kurt Vile, Matthew Houck of Phosphorescent, Devon Gilfillian, and Particle Kid. In addition to the virtual Town Hall and Fourth of July Picnic, Willie’s Roadhouse will also feature tracks from First Rose of Spring and exclusive commentary from Willie himself every hour throughout the holiday weekend.
