“To hell with this diet!”

Well, we’ve all said that before. Jeb Bush declared it recently while eating some of his favorite blueberry pie — a decadent dessert that doesn’t mesh with his paleo diet.

“What the heck is the paleo diet?!” SiriusXM POTUS host Michael Smerconish asked Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet.

Wolf explained the ideas behind this “caveman diet,” which says to reduce or leave out grains, legumes and dairy. Essentially, only eat food available to hunter-gatherers.

But Wolf isn’t super strict. “I am not recommending a completely austere approach to this. But if seven out of your 10 meals are really, really good, then the three meals that are kind of kicking your heels up are not too big of a thing.”

He insists on a highly individualized approach. What works well for your body might not work well for another.

And at the heart of it all, a seemingly simple concept: “If you’re eating a lot of crappy food, there’s consequences to that,” Wolf said.
