Landon Donovan scored a goal and totaled three assists in the U.S. Men’s National Team’s 5-1 win over El Salvador on Sunday in the Gold Cup. ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle said he’d be surprised if Donovan was left off the country’s “A” team  following the performance on SiriusXM FC.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly spoke with Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo on Mad Dog Radio about his team’s success over the past month. Mattingly, whose job was rumored to be on the line prior to Yasiel Puig’s arrival in the majors, told Russo that it “wasn’t much fun” being on the hot seat.

Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton said that he is “very troubled” by Johnny Manziel. Tarkenton added that the Texas A&M quarterback “is a young man of enormous talents, enormous gifts . . . but the character issues are troubling.”

At ACC Media Day, senior quarterback Tajh Boyd spoke about coming back for one final season with Clemson, and opening the 2013 season against Georgia after closing last season against LSU. Boyd spoke with College Sports Nation’s Mark Packer.

Are Justin Verlander’s days as a staff ace—and, perhaps more importantly to your free time, a fantasy baseball ace—done? SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio talked about what’s going on with the struggling Tigers starter.

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews doesn’t have many fans in fantasy football owners. Will 2013 be any different? Brandon Stone of KUSI-TV spoke about Mathews’ expectations on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.
