Julia Roberts is one of the most recognizable public figures in the world. A pioneer for female actors, Roberts was not only the highest-paid actress in the world throughout most of the 1990s, but she was also the first actress in history to earn a reported $20 million for her performance in Erin Brockovich – a great investment considering Roberts’ portrayal of the eponymous environmental activist also earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Three years later, she’d go on to break her own record, earning a reported $25 million for the 2003 film Mona Lisa Smile.

With a career spanning across four decades, the now 50-year-old actress recently reflected on some of the most memorable moments with Entertainment Weekly’s Jess Cagle. Roberts spoke candidly about begging Richard Gere to be in Pretty Woman, playing pranks with Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and more. Watch below.
