Watch Ghost’s haunting Unholy Unleaded performance, complete with kazoo

Fresh off the release of their third studio album, Meliora, Swedish heavy metal band Ghost gave a haunting performance for a special episode of Octane Unleaded — Unholy Unleaded —  just in time for Halloween.

Papa Emeritus III — who was appointed the new frontman back in June — donned his signature skull face paint with black garments and a satanic medallion pin while wielding a yellow kazoo (notably absent was his embellished “demonic anti-Pope” cassock). He was backed on acoustic guitars by two of his five Nameless Gouls, who sported their signature horned silver masks.

This aesthetic extended into their flamenco-tinged performance of Ghuleh/Zombie Queen, with Papa Emeritus III staying flawlessly in character throughout, giving the kazoo unexpected gravitas.

Following their performance, Papa Emeritus III performed a ritual on Octane host Grant Random — first blessing him as he wore white and possessing him as he changed to black.

They even headed into the SiriusXM photobooth where they took what is arguably the best series of photos ever taken in a photobooth.
