Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots died by suicide one year ago (July 20, 2017). His death, at age 41, opened up a worldwide conversation about mental health.

Despite his successful career, Bennington’s tragic death proved that mental illness can affect anyone. Linkin Park’s 2018 album, One More Light, had become the band’s sixth LP to reach No. 1, and they had a 29-date tour due to start just a week after he died. He often spoke openly about his struggles with substance abuse and depression, and his wife even shared videos of a happy-looking Bennington with his family just 36 hours before his death to try and explain that mental illness isn’t always obvious.

VOLUME (Ch. 106) will be remembering Bennington all day on the anniversary of his death. Tune into Feedback (7-10 am ET), Trunk Nation (2-4 pm ET) and Debatable (4-7 pm ET) as they discuss his musical legacy, replay clips from past interviews. and hear from fans and other special callers.
