Mitchell Trubisky has long resigned himself to the fact that one statistic from his quarterbacking career at the University of North Carolina will always be discussed before any other.

He expects it to remain stuck to him even after he enters the NFL.

‘Everyone’s always going to talk about the 13 starts’

“Everyone’s always going to talk about the 13 starts,” Trubisky told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “That’ll probably be with me for the rest of my NFL career as well.”

Probably. But when comparisons are made with quarterbacks in the league who also had limited action in college, Trubisky has plenty of reason to feel good about himself.

‘Guys like Aaron Rodgers didn’t have a lot of starts and around the same amount of passing attempts’

“Some of the numbers translate and guys like Aaron Rodgers didn’t have a lot of starts and around the same amount of passing attempts,” Trubisky said. “I’m very confident in what I’ve done in my college career and all the football I’ve seen and who I am as a person that I’ll be able to handle what’s ever up ahead for me in the NFL, so I’m very excited to get to work and get going.”

He does not sound the least bit anxious about what his future holds in the NFL Draft. As far as Trubisky is concerned, he did all that he needed to do to put himself in good position. Now, it’s up to a team to decide it wants him.

‘At the end of the day, it’s just about being confident about who you are as a person’

“This process is going a lot easier and smoother than I imagined it, so I’m very happy,” Trubisky said. “At the end of the day, it’s just being confident about who you are as a person. A lot of people don’t think I’m ready for the next step, but I truly believe that I am, so I feel like that gives me calmness as well. And I’ve got a great support system from my family and my agency, so I’m not really worried. I’m just excited about to get back to playing football.”
