“Wait ’til the world gets a load of her.”

Straight from Kingston, Jamaica, and fresh off winning season five of The Voice, Tessanne Chin is ready to meet global stardom. Still “pinching” herself from the whole experience, Chin stopped by Sway in the Morning to give a more personal look into the humble singer we’ve come to know.

Chin has a lot going on these days. Not only has winning The Voice elevated her to the world’s stage, she also just finished releasing a brand-new single. The song, Tumbling Down, was written by One Direction’s Ryan Tedder before the winner was even announced. “He’s a genius to be able to write for like three people, three possible artists,” Chin said.

So what are a few things about Chin we might not know? She grew up a fourth-generation Chinese-Jamaican, born to musician parents who practically introduced her to music while she was still in the “womb.” Chin loves to cook traditional Jamaican dishes, and revealed she can make a hell of a baked mac and cheese. She also spoke about her admiration for Beyonce, the possibility of a future collab with fellow island girl Rihanna, and the words of advice another internationally known Jamaican, Usain Bolt, offered.

One thing is for certain though: Girl has got some pipes. Check out the vid below to hear her belt out a very Sway remix of her song, Messenger.
