‘The only job harder than playing in this league is officiating’

Coach Mike Vrabel stresses the importance of his players avoiding yellow flags as much as possible. Part of the process is getting them to understand the difficult job the officials do.

“Yeah, I think these guys try to do what we’re asking them to do and what we’re coaching them to do,” Vrabel told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “We try to educate them on the officials. The officials have a hard job. The only job harder than playing in this league is officiating, and we try to show them the officials’ video anytime I’ll send something out (to the league). We try to talk to them about the points of emphasis, we try to talk to them about the proper technique.

‘It’s going to have to continue and be that way down the stretch’

“So I’m sure (having the fewest penalties in the league has) contributed to some of the victories that we’ve had here. It’s going to have to continue and be that way for us down the stretch.”
