Do the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers remind you of something you’ve seen before? For Broncos head coach John Fox and former NFL running back Clinton Portis, that answer is “Yes.”

This week on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Fox explained why he’s comparing his Broncos to the 2013-14 NBA championship-winning San Antonio Spurs.

“They lost in the NBA Finals a year ago, and then used that to motivate them into the next one, where they were able to win the championship,” Fox said. “So I think you set your standards, you build a culture and the expectations are high – and you wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Portis, meanwhile, said the Panthers make him think of the New York Giants Super Bowl-winning teams of the 2000s on SiriusXM Bleacher Report Radio.

“They’ve got guys who can get to the quarterback, they’re playing outstanding on defense,” Portis said, “and now all of the sudden, the reemergence of Cam Newton, just because he has a new-found life since the car wreck, really got the team going.”
