Tasha Page-Lockhart, season 6 winner of BET’s hit gospel competition show Sunday Best, joined host Kirk Franklin on SiriusXM’s Kirk Franklin’s Praise to talk about her experience competing on the show as well as the making of her debut album, Here Right Now.

The Detroit native shared her thoughts about her experience on Sunday Best.

“I feel great, I feel great. Some days I’m tired, but tired is good because that means I’m busy. This time last year I was at home sitting around, just like ‘Okay Lord, what’s gonna happen?’ And now I could be in five cities in six days. It’s amazing, it’s a dream come true. I’m soaking in the moment.”

The gospel star also discussed working with Franklin to produce her debut album, Here Right Now, which is set to release 8/5 under the labels Fo Yo Soul Recordings and RCA Records.

“You were able to communicate with me in a way that I could understand. It was almost like sometimes you were in the booth with me even though we had a barrier in between us, the window, but still. The verbiage that you used, the way that you made me feel comfortable in how to communicate the song. The whole atmosphere, everything. I’m used to recording in studios in Detroit where I’m in one room and I don’t how many rappers and girls all on they laps and bottles. It’s just the atmosphere was never right for me to record. When I came here, it was just peaceful, atmosphere was great, the energy was good from everybody, no divas or divos, none of that stuff. Everybody was on the same level and we was just working.”
