Tarkenton: McCarthy-Rodgers spat signals something wrong in Green Bay

Thursday on his SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio show Fantasy Fran, Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton examined the heated sideline discussion between Packers coach Mike McCarthy and QB Aaron Rodgers that was caught on camera during Green Bay’s Week 3 loss to the Bengals.

Aaron Rodgers is not going to be happy about that. That’s going to affect him. It’s going to affect his whole team. If you have a conflict like that like they did, that is so unusual, and there’s something behind that, there’s something deeper than that and we’ve heard nothing out of Green Bay about it, have we? I’ll bet you that general manager, listen, I can find a head coach a lot faster than I can find another Aaron Rodgers. I don’t care how much clout Mike McCarthy has. I think he’s been a very, very good coach but he’s frustrated because they thought they were going to have a big Super Bowl run after they won it two or three years ago and they haven’t. The team hasn’t been as good. And McCarthy may have a little pressure on him, may be feeling that pressure now. He should be feeling that pressure because if you’ve got Aaron Rodgers there and you’re not going deep into the playoffs and going to Super Bowls something’s wrong.

Fantasy Fran with Fran Tarkenton and John Hansen airs Thursdays at 4 pm ET on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.
