Madison Bumgarner won’t start Wednesday night’s decisive Game 7 between the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants; manager Bruce Bochy has already made that clear. (Though he may make an appearance in relief.) Still, SiriusXM Bleacher Report Radio wanted to know: If given the choice between Bumgarner and Los Angeles Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw in the postseason, who would Mad Dog Sports Radio’s Steve Phillips pick?

“If I could choose one game, Game 7 of the World Series next year, and I could choose Bumgarner or Kershaw, I’m taking Kershaw,” Phillips said. “Even though Kershaw’s postseason numbers haven’t been great, he is the better pitcher, he has better stuff. And I believe, give me the guy that has the most talent, and he’ll figure out how to win at some point in the playoffs.”

Phillips did give Bumgarner his due credit for the southpaw’s masterful pitching in October.

“What Bumgarner’s doing in the postseason is even better than what Kershaw did in the regular season.”

MLB Network Radio’s resident general managers Jim Bowden and Jim Duquette also previewed Game 7 of the World Series following the Royals’ Game 6 win. Have a listen below, and for channel listings for Wednesday night’s game, visit the SiriusXM MLB schedule.
