Journeyman-turned-ace reliever Steve Delabar won the MLB All-Star Final Vote on Thursday, earning him a spot on the American League All-Star roster.

Delabar, who first appeared in the majors in 2011 as a 27-year-old, has emerged as one of the elite middle relievers in the bigs this year. Pitching out of the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen, Delabar is 5-1 with a 1.74 ERA in 37 games and has struck out 57 batters in 41 1/3 innings.

Delabar spoke with Jeff Joyce on SiriusXM’s MLB Roundtrip Thursday night about the support from fans both in Toronto and his home state and how he learned the news.

MLB Roundtrip airs at midnight ET every night of the season on MLB Network Radio, XM channel 89 and Sirius channel 209.
