When your father is Francis Ford Coppola, you grow up watching some pretty amazing movies. But there’s always time to break away from a Kurosawa film for Purple Rain, a flick that blew his daughter’s mind. Of course, an expansive library of cinema playing in the background of your childhood is bound to shape you as a person — and an artist.

The legendary filmmaker’s daughter Sofia Coppola has made a name for herself in film as well, including with her latest movie, The Beguiled.

Sofia sat down with Alec Baldwin in the latest episode of his podcast, Here’s The Thing, to talk about growing up Coppola, tracking down Bill Murray, understanding the vulnerability of stars and more.

Hear the podcast every Thursday at 9 pm ET on SiriusXM Insight (Ch. 121).

Here’s The Thing is a series of intimate and honest conversations hosted by Alec Baldwin. The actor talks with artists, policy makers and performers to hear their stories, what inspires their creations, what decisions changed their careers, and what relationships influenced their work.
