The draft that will set the tone for all fantasy baseball drafts the upcoming months, the SiriusXM-F.S.T.A. Fantasy Baseball Experts Draft, wrapped up this week.

Not surprisingly, the consensus No. 1 overall draft pick, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, went off the board first to the USA Today Sports team.

The rest of the first round, with some analysis:

  2. Colton and The Wolfman – Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates
  3. Baseball HQ – Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox – “A batter who could give us a high likelihood of 30 home runs, high likelihood of a .300 batting average.”
  4. CDM Sports – Paul Goldschmidt, Arizona Diamondbacks
  5. Fantistics – Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers – Selected per the advice of Joe Torre.
  6. Stats Inc./NFBC – Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – “Everyone’s chasing power, so I’m gonna take the best one.”
  7. MastersBall – Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs
  8. Scout Fantasy – Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers – “I see 30 home runs, I see 30 steals.”
  9. RotoWire – Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – “I didn’t even think this would be an option.”
  10. RT Sports – Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles
  11. Fantasy Alarm – Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners
