Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool 2 is “a family film, wrapped in an insane rated-R comic book movie.” While filming with that perfect, weird combo in mind, Reynolds says they scrapped a joke that “went a little too dark” and a draft that had Deadpool as a dad.

“By page two-and-a-half we realized that’s a terrible idea,” he told Jess Cagle on Entertainment Weekly Radio. “We just completely burned those pages and turned them into toilet paper.”

As far as Ryan Reynolds’ real-life kids, seeing dad dressed as Deadpool was pretty scary, thanks to the scar makeup.

“My one-year-old daughter would just sob for hours after seeing me,” he said. “It’s torture!”
