Rosie O’Donnell & Michelangelo Signorile talk ‘religious freedom’ laws, Lena Dunham + more

SiriusXM’s Michelangelo Signorile took a turn in the interviewee seat this week as Rosie O’Donnell hosted an intimate Q&A session focused on the current status of gay rights in America and Signorile’s new book, It’s Not Over: Getting Beyond Tolerance, Defeating Homophobia and Winning True Equality.

You can hear the entire Town Hall event on SiriusXM Progress Ch. 127 on Monday, April 13 at 4 pm ET and SiriusXM OutQ Ch. 106 on Thursday, April 16 at 2 pm ET. In the meantime, check out some of the highlights below!

The pair talked about the “religious freedom” law in Indiana (and for the record, Rosie says “not even lesbians” would want a pizzeria to cater a wedding).

They spoke about the women’s rights movement and how Rosie sees Lena Dunham as the child (or grandchild) of Gloria Steinem.

Rosie says Signorile was “one of the loud voices in my head” that led her to come out publicly and help others do the same. They discussed how Ellen DeGeneres paved the way for so many.
