Unlike the decades before it, the 2000s did not breed many new genres, with the exception of emo and chillwave. For the most part, teen pop from the late ‘90s carried over and continued to dominate the charts along with Southern hip-hop, alternative rock and power pop. Although many artists from this decade went on to create timeless hit after timeless hit, a few artists only saw their place at the top of the charts but once.
