The Seattle Seahawks know that they’ll be seeing rookie quarterback Josh Rosen make his first NFL start when they face the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

Beyond that, it will be a whole lot of guesswork.

‘When they switch quarterbacks, you’re not sure what the play-calling is going to be like’

Or, at least, that’s what Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is expecting until after kickoff.

“Yeah, you know they have to show us what they’re going to do,” Carroll told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Movin’ The Chains. “We don’t know right now. When they switch quarterbacks, you’re not sure what the play-calling is going to be like and the emphasis of stuff. So we got to go in this game with a real wide-open plan and then adjust from there.”

‘Josh Rosen is a really talented football player’

What Carroll does know is that the Seahawks will be facing a quarterback with plenty of ability to pose a big challenge to their defense.

“Josh Rosen is a really talented football player,” Carroll said. “He’s got a great arm, he’s got tremendous playmaking ability and he can really come out of concerns, where he looks like he’s not going to be ready get rid of the football, and it explodes out and he puts the ball right on the money.

‘We have to have a good, basic plan’

“So we’re not sure what’s going to happen with this guy, so we have to have a good, basic plan and see if we can adjust during the game.”
