We understand your consternation about the word “might” in the headline, dear Browns’ fans. We’re talking about an organization that has seen so much go so sideways for such an alarmingly long period of time that we are understandably wary of jinxing the Browns this season. But we really like the Hue Jackson hiring and we really like the Robert Griffin III signing and, well, we’re just consummate optimists.

Camp Talk

Back to the optimism for a sec, you heard Hue Jackson in that clip, right? You’re familiar with his track record, yes? Hue Jackson is the best chance the Browns organization has had at “not being a laughingstock” in years. The franchise lost a lot of talent in the offseason and it would take a miracle for the Browns to make the playoffs, but a .500 record would be a big step in the right direction for a team that’s not played in a playoff game since the 2002 season. Additionally the offense has looked fairly solid throughout camp, with RGIII building a rapport with not only Baylor product Corey Coleman, but also with QB-turned-wideout Terrelle Pryor. Toss in the facts that prolific tight end Gary Barnidge is back as a safety-valve option for RGIII and that Josh Gordon returns in Week 5 and the Browns offense looks capable of scoring some points (if you squint hard enough.)

Fantasy Outlook:

Stud: TBD. We’re bullish on RGIII having a rebound season under the tutelage of Jackson, et al. But that’s a big question mark under center until he proves otherwise.

Sleeper: We love Corey Coleman and could see him being a very solid contributor to any fantasy squad if Griffin ends up being as decent as we anticipate.
