Captain MunnerlynCaptain Munnerlyn knows the clock is ticking on his chances to win a Super Bowl.

He will have that clock very much in mind as he ponders where he might land while on his way to free agency.

‘I’m definitely going to look at the roster, the coaches to see where I can take my talent’

The Minnesota Vikings’ defensive back would be happy to stay put, but is open to going elsewhere — as long as it offers a good chance to fulfill his ultimate NFL dream.

“I’ve got to put myself in the position to try to get that Super Bowl trophy,” Munnerlyn told Bruce Murray and Maurice Jones-Drew. “I’m an older guy. I’m going on year nine, so I definitely want to win. So I’m definitely going to look at the roster, the coaches, to see where I can take my talent and plug it in and try to help those guys get to the playoffs and make that Super Bowl run.”

‘I know that nickel position is very, very valuable in the NFL now’

Munnerlyn expects his agent to meet with interested teams next week, at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He thinks his position, and how well he plays it, will cause him to be in high demand.

“I’m very excited just to see where that goes,” he said. “I know (the Vikings) know that the nickel position in that defense is very, very valuable in the NFL now. Teams are playing 80 percent nickel, so you’ve definitely got to have a great nickel back so I definitely expect to have a decent market for myself.

‘I do want to go back to Minnesota’

“I’m excited about that, but at the same time, I do want to go back to Minnesota. As a defense, I feel like we’re on the upcoming. We’ve got some very young talent, some great players, and  we’ve got a great head coach.”
