Thanks to his hit songs Crash My Party, Drink a Beer, Drunk on You, Take My Drunk A** Home and Drinkin’ Beer and Wastin’ Bullets, you might expect Luke Bryan to live that rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle on the road.

But before weathering the New York City rain to perform live on the plaza Friday morning, the country star told TODAY Show Radio that he’s learned the value of a good night’s sleep before bringing the house down.

“In my youthfulness I used to have done stupid moves like that, but now I’ve learned to get my butt into bed and be ready to be on TV in the morning,” he said.

Bryan, 39, also said he loves touring outside of the South.

“It’s amazing, I feel like the crowds are very symbolic of how you guys live your life,” he explained. “You’re real proud and loud, and nothing is more special than being from Georgia and coming up to these metropolitan areas of New York and Jersey and Philly, and to have crowds just really, really going crazy over your music and screaming loud and being really, really into it. I can’t play up here enough, in my opinion.”
