UCLA is one game away from claiming the program’s first College World Series title following a Game 1 win over Mississippi State on Monday.

Starting pitcher Adam Plutko was the star for the Bruins, scattering four hits over six innings while allowing one run. The bullpen then held on, shutting out Mississippi State for three innings to secure the 3-1 win.

Plutko spoke with Chris Childers on SiriusXM College Sports Coast to Coast following the win. He praised his defense, spoke about the advantage of taking an early lead in baseball and offered some advice to UCLA Game 2 starter Nick Vander Tuig: “Pound the zone and throw a lot of strikes.”

You can listen to Game 2 of the College World Series final Tuesday at 7:45 pm ET on SiriusXM channel 91. If Mississippi State forces a Game 3, coverage will begin Wednesday at 7:45 pm ET, also on SiriusXM channel 91.
