Kings of Leon have been selling out arenas and playing to massive crowds for a decade. While in New York City Wednesday, the band could’ve easily sold out Madison Square Garden (multiple nights at that), but they instead returned to their roots for an intimate performance at (Le) Poisson Rouge in downtown Manhattan.

“When we walked in [to the venue], we were like, ‘Wow, we haven’t smelled this in a long time,” lead singer Caleb Followill told Alt Nation host Jenny Eliscu before the show. “It definitely feels like we should play some stuff we used to play in these sized venues.”

The band began the special invite-only performance with the single Waste A Moment off their highly anticipated upcoming album WALLS, due out Oct. 14.

They went on to play songs spanning their 16-year career, including 2004’s Aha Shake Heartbreak, 2010’s Come Around Sundown, 2003’s Youth & Young Manhood, 2007’s Because of The Times, and 2013’s Mechanical Bull, as well as new WALLS material including Reverend, Around the World and Over, before closing out the night with their Grammy-winning Sex on Fire.

You can hear the exclusive performance, which aired LIVE on Alt Nation (Ch. 36), again on Saturday 10/15 at 3 pm and 9 pm ET; Sunday 10/16 at 6 pm ET; and Monday 10/17 at 8 am and 7 pm ET. Additionally, it will re-air on The Spectrum (Ch. 28) Tuesday 10/18 at 9 pm ET; Wednesday 10/19 at 2 pm and midnight ET; Thursday 10/20 at 4 pm ET; and Friday 10/21 at 7 pm ET. Fans can also catch the performance through the SiriusXM app as well as the online player at siriusxm.com.
