John Oates’ surefire trick for getting rid of groupies

Nowadays, fans can see what their favorite celebs had for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the help of Twitter and Instagram. But before the days of photo filters and 140 characters, some groupies took “following” a bit too literally.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates (of Hall & Oates) stopped by Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy to divulge a particularly sketchy incident from back in the day – and his brilliant method for getting rid of the clingy fan (#byefelicia).

“I was in Chicago, and there was this girl who somehow got up to my room. I have no idea how that happened. She was in my room, and she wouldn’t leave. I didn’t really like her that much,” Oates said.

“I was racking my brain how to get rid of her. We were in Chicago, and it was January or February. It was freezing cold. The side of the bed she was on was next to the window. So I snuck around the bed, and I opened up the window.”

Fear not, listeners. This didn’t become a “Colonel Mustard in the library with the candlestick” type of deal.

“I put my coat on, and I got back in bed. And she was laying under a sheet and didn’t have any clothes on, and it started getting really cold” Oates said.

“And then she started fidgeting around, and I started moving away. And she finally got up and left.”
