Washington Redskins second-year quarterback Robert Griffin III will enter his Monday Night Football opener against the Philadelphia Eagles without having played a snap in the preseason. No matter, John Madden said Wednesday on Madden Football.

“I wouldn’t worry about it,” Madden said. “I have respect for [Redskins coach] Mike Shanahan and his thought process now. If you don’t get a guy ready by playing games in the preseason, then you have to get him ready in practice.

“I think he probably took most of the reps in practice,” Madden continued. “I believe that in Mike’s mind, he has to believe — and the whole organization’s mind — they have to believe that they got him ready to play in the first regular season game in practice.”

Madden also spoke about whether Griffin, who tore his ACL in a postseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, will have to change his playing style in order to stay on the football field.

Madden Football airs Wednesdays at 2 pm ET on Mad Dog Sports Radio.
