Joe Torre on Joe Girardi rumors: ‘The Yankees are very tough to walk away from’

With New York Yankees’manager Joe Girardi’s contract set to officially expire on October 31, rumors have already began circulating of a possible departure. One possible destination? According to reports, the Chicago Cubs.

Former Yankees’ skipper and current MLB Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Joe Torre expressed his thoughts about Girardi with Chris Russo onSiriusXM’s MLB Network Radio.

“You get one shot at managing the New York Yankees,” Torre said. “If he is torn, it’s certainly not going to be a slam-dunk decision, because the Yankees are very tough to walk away from.”
