Now that George Zimmerman’s trial is over, Trayvon Martin’s family has turned their attention to a different kind of justice: aid for the victims of violent crimes and their families. Through the Trayvon Martin Foundation, the Martin family hopes to include crime victims and their families in discussions about violent crime, increase awareness of profiling, educate young people about conflict resolution and reduce violence between strangers.

Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin, talked to Joe Madison of The Black Eagle on SiriusXM Urban View about life after losing his son and how it inspired him to start the organization.

“It’s an emptiness that you can’t explain,” Martin said. “It made me realize that one day you’re here and the next day you’re gone.”

Proceeds from the sale of Joe Madison’s Black Eagle Brew coffee and mugs will be donated to the Trayvon Martin Foundation.
