Straight up now tell me: Did Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell’s flirty back-and-forth on American Idol translate to any behind-the-scenes action?
“A lot of people still giggle and want to know about any rumors with you and Simon. Did you guys ever hook up?” McCarthy asked. “I swear to God, that was the biggest question.”
“Really, all of you asked that question?” Abdul cried, pointing to the audience of SiriusXM subscribers. “You need to get a life.”
“That’s a yes,” NKOTB’s Joey McIntyre joked.
“I see what I’m in for,” Abdul replied as the crowd laughed, adding that she “quit eight times” during her first day working with the infamously caustic record producer.
NKOTB and Boyz II Men have toured together before, and it turns out Abdul has a special connection to the R&B trio.
“We call her Buttercup because she’s tiny like a Powerpuff Girl,” Shawn Stockman said. “Paula was actually there when we got discovered. She was at the performance, like we snuck backstage — I don’t know if anybody knows this story — but we snuck backstage and we met Bell Biv DeVoe, and this is when we, that famous moment where we sang for Mike Bivins to get our deal. She was there.”
As for NKOTB making new music, “It’s definitely happening,” Donnie Wahlberg said to cheers. “One surprise at a time.”
The Inner Circle with Jenny McCarthy featuring Paula Abdul, Boyz II Men, and New Kids On The Block airs Nov. 25 on SiriusXM Stars (Ch. 109).
