Jarvis Landry had no doubts about what Jay Cutler would bring to the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins’ receiver had kept close tabs on the career of his new quarterback.

‘He’s a guy that has done tremendous things in this league’

Sure enough, in the team’s first game of the season, last Sunday’s 19-17 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, Landry saw Cutler deliver as advertised by completing 24 of 33 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. Thirteen of those completions were to Landry.

“I’ve always known Jay to be a baller,” Landry told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “I would say I’ve always kept up with the Chicago Bears, but guys like that, it’s hard not to hear about him. He’s a guy that has done tremendous things in this league and it goes to show you, for him to come and be a part of this organization and part of this team for the last two or three months, and do the things that we did Sunday, it’s just a footstool to where we’re headed to and the potential that we have.

‘We’re riding the back of his play’

“Jay is becoming a leader and he’s something that our team needs. We’re riding the back of his play.”
