Longtime ABC News White House correspondent Ann Compton joined the Press Pool with Julie Mason this week on SiriusXM’s POTUS, Ch. 124, to discuss her career and 41 years at the network. Ann is retiring from her job and will be honored this weekend by the White House Correspondents Association.

She also got a nice shout-out from President Obama, and drank some champagne during her last flight on Air Force One.

Part Two:

After a long hiatus working on the HBO Show Veep, New York writer Frank Rich was back on the show to discuss his latest piece in the magazine about immersing himself in the news cycle of 1964. But why?

David Sanger from The New York Times was on the show to talk about the status of nuclear talks between the U.S. and Iran, and he cleared up one or two lingering questions Julie had about the process.

Over at Buzzfeed, White House reporter Evan McMorris-Santoro had a story about the Democratic Party devouring itself with blame over impending midterm election losses. Julie called it “Donner Party politics,” and debated with Evan a possible Buzzfeed quiz topic: What kind of election are you?

And David Greene, host of NPR’s Morning Edition, has a wonderful new book out called Midnight in Siberia, chronicling his five-week journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Listen to the Press Pool with Julie Mason weekdays from 3-6 p.m. ET and follow Julie on Twitter @juliemason!
