With six days until election day, Hillary Clinton spoke with Joe Madison to make her case to African-American voters.

“I do want people to vote for something, not just against something,” Clinton added. “As president, I will be your partner. We’re going to be making investments in communities that have been left out and left behind. I want us to make the biggest investment in good paying jobs since World War II.”

“We will ban the box and do more to help people who pay their debt to society find jobs and housing when they get out,” Clinton explained. “We’re going to face the reality of systemic racism and work to reform the criminal justice system from end to end. I will do everything I can to beat back the assault on voting rights. I have been doing this work for more than 30 years.”

She added, “I am committed to building on the progress that we’ve made under President Obama.”

“I’m not going to get ahead of myself by assuming I’ll be fortunate enough to be elected,” Clinton said, urging people to get out and vote. “That’s really up to you and your listeners, people have to turn out or nothing that I’m going to be proposing will come into reality.”

If she were to be elected, Clinton said, “I want to hit the ground running.”
